Gasan Umalatov v Eddie Gordon

Round 1:  The bell rings and both men start the feeling process. Gordon lands a few nice leg kicks. Umalatov returns with a few of his own. Umalatov attempts to press Gordon against the cage but 'Truck' shakes him off.  The men continue to feel each other out and the round ends with a small exchange in which Gordon catches Umalatov with a nice right-hook. --It was a close round but I have: Gordon 10-9

Round 2: Gordon and Umalatov meet in the center of the octagon but Gordon backs Umalatov and pushes the pace. Gordon lands a few jabs and hooks but Umalatov fires back with an offensive of his own. Gordon continues to be the aggressor but eats leg kicks and a few body strike on the way in. Both men finish the round but nothing significant lands. Tough round to score but: Umalatov 10-9

Round 3: Gordon comes out landing right off the bat but Umalatov  takes Gordon down. Gordon bounces right back up and action resumes. Gordon continues to stalk Umalatov but takes damage from the outside. Umalatov again lands to the body and the head. Gordon attempts a few takedowns of his own but is stuffed on each attempt. The round dwindles to the end with Umalatov getting the better of the exchanges. Umalatov 10-9

Decision: Gasan Umalatov def. Eddie Gordon 30-27 on all 3 judges scorecards. Umalatov picks up 3 points for a total of  3 points.

 

Louis taylor v Andre Lobato

Round 1:  Both men come out swinging and Taylor catches Lobato's leg.  Lobato pulls guard in an attempt for a guillotine butTaylor easily defends. Taylor starts to land heavy ground and pound but in a short scramble, Lobato attempts an ankle lock. Taylor fights out of it and stands but Lobato  stays close behind and presses Taylor to the cage. Taylor secures a beautiful takedown. Lobato reverses and gets up. Taylor follows up with strikes and secures his 2nd takedown. Both men stand and before the round ends, Taylor secures his 3rd takedown of the round landing heavy shots. Taylor 10-9

Round 2: Taylor blasts out the gate swinging and clipping Lobato. Taylor presses  Lobato against the cage and rains down some GnP. Lobato finally gets back to his feet and attempts to secure a takedown of his own. Taylor catches Lobato in a guillotine as they go down and winds up on top. Taylor lets it go and both men get back to their feet. Yet again, Taylor controls the action and backs Lobato to the cage. Lobato eats a knee to the groin and the ref puts the fight on hold. Action resumes and both men meet again in the center of the cage. Lobato lands a few strikes but Taylor responds.  Taylor 10-9

Round 3: Lobato now takes control of the center of the octagon but Taylor dashes forward and lands a spin kick to the body. Lobato's body bounces off the cage and Taylor gets the takedown. Taylor sits in half-guard landing nice shots to the body. Lobato utilizes the cage and makes it back to his feet. Lobato lands a leg kick and Taylor answers with a straight.  Taylor lands a flying knee followed by a jab and secures yet another takedown. Taylor 10-9

Decision: Louis Taylor def. Andre Lobato 30-27/30-27/30-26. Taylor picks up 3 points for a total of 7 points.

 

Shamil Gamzatov v Rex Harris

Round 1: Gamzatov comes out and begins to piece Harris up with some nice jabs. Gamzatov and Harris clinch with Gamzatov landing a nice knee. Harris seems a little stunned and Gamazatov follows with some crisp striking. The round ends with the men tradin but Gamazatov taking advantage. Gamzatov 10-9

Round 2: Gamzatov comes out again with crispy striking and working Rex Harris against the cage. Both men trade in the center of the octagon and Harris shoots for a takedown. Gamzatov stuffs the attempt and works his way back to the center of the octagon. Harris starting to come alive under the coaching of Corey Anderson and Co. Harris lands a decent jab and puts Gamazatov back on the cage. Both men fall to the mat in a scramble. The round ends with both men exchanging. While Harris came alive, I still think Gamzatov might have stole the round. Gamzatov 10-9

Round 3:  Harris and Gamzatov square up and Harris gets off first landing a few clean strikes. Gamzatov  attempts a head kick but Harris blocks. Harris now controls the center of the octagon and is pushing the pace. Harris shoots for a takedown but it is stuffed. Gamzatov lands a few clean strikes from the outside but Harris weathers it and shoots for another takedown. Gamzatov stuffs the 2nd attempt and put Harris up against the cage. The ref breaks it up due to inactivity and action resumes. Gamzatov is using his reach to his advantage and is picking Harris apart from the outside. Harris dashes forward and lands but eats a few shots on the way in. The round ends. Gamzatov 10-9

Decision: Shamil Gamzatov def. Rex Harris 30-27/30-27/29-28. Gamzatov picks up 3 points  for a total of 6 points.

 

Abus Magomedov v Anderson Goncalves

Round 1: Magomedov  comes out and looks to be the more sound fighter on the feet. Magomedov land a few strikes including a superman punch. Magomedov rushes Goncalves and drops him with a beautiful left hook and follows up with 3 uppercuts on the ground. AND ITS ALL OVER!

Decision: Abus Magomedov def. Anderson Goncalves at 1:27 in the 1st round via TKO. Magomedov picks up 6 points for a total score of 12 points.

 

John Howard v Bruno Santos

Round 1: Howard takes the center, both men getting the range down. Howard stalks Santos and unleashes a fury against the cage but Santos escapes. Howard tracks him down again and smushes him against the cage. Santos reverses the position, picks Howard up and slams him for a takedown. Santos tries to GnP out of full guard. Santos lands some good strikes from top at the end of the round. Santos 10-9

Round 2: Howard takes the center again. Santos lands two hard inside leg kicks. Santos showing a strong jab as well. Howard is stalking but Santos keeps evading him. Howard gets Santos against the cage but gets reversed again. They break. Howard with a flurry! Gets Santos down and starts to pound! Santos recovers guard and tries to wall walk. Howard takes the back in the process. Santos slips out and is now on top. Howard is up but gives his back and Santos slams him again. More GnP from Santos in half-guard. Crazy round. Santos ends the round on top. Santos 10-9

Round 3: They lock up immediately; Santos has Howard against the cage. Howard reverses, throws Santos, but he is able to recover and regain the same position on the cage. Working hard for the takedown. Pace has definitely slowed and ref breaks them. Another flurry from Howard. Santos eats one but escapes again then gets Howard against the cage. They break, Howard in the center, starts throwing wild hooks. They meet on the fence and Santos gets him down again in half-guard. Howard attacks a kimura. It's close, but the bell rings. Santos ended on top, but Howard does more in the round for sure. Howard 10-9

Decision: Bruno Santos def John Howard by unanimous decision: 30-27/30-27/29-28. Santos adds three points for a total of 6

 

Jake Shields v Herman Terrado

Round 1:  Terrado comes out strong but Shields gets a hold of him and puts him against the cage. Shields takes Terrado's back and brings him down.  Terrado gets up and reverse position, now putting Shields against the octagon. Shields quickly turns the tables on Terrado and puts him back down. Shields maintains top control to the end of the round. Shields 10-9

Round 2: Terrado comes out swinging but Shields weathers the storm and brings Terrado down quickly. Jake Shields keeps active and lands a few strikes from the top. Terrado attempts an armbar from guard but is unsuccessful. Shields passes into side control and continues to dominate Terrado. Jake Shields jumps into mount and Terrado does not seem to have an answer from the bottom. Jake continues to score from the top with a few shots off Terrado's head. Shields 10-9

Round 3:  Terrado runs across the octagon looking to bring the fight with Shields, but Shields immediately shoots for a takedown and puts Terrado to the cage. The men seperate and Terrado clips Shields. SHIELDS IS HURT!!! Terrado follows up with strikes and Shields instantly shoots for a takedown, pulling Terrado into his guard. Terrado remains active from the top with heavy strikes. Terrado gets into half guard and lands heavy shots from the top. The round ends and Jake Shields survives. Terrado 10-9

Decision: Jake Shields def Herman Terrado  via UD 29-28/29-28/29-28. Shields adds 3 points to his total score for a total of 3 points in the tournament.

RIck Story v Carlton Minus

Round 1: Both guys dancing around a little, looking for the timing. Story rushes forward and lands a punch and Minus escapes. Story is stalking him now. Closes the distance and lands a huge double leg. Story has the back, Minus tries to dump him. Doesn't work and Minus is in trouble. Arm triangle position for Story. Minus scrambles but Story remains on top. Story working out of half-guard now. Arm triangle position again, much deeper this time. Minus survives. Story 10-9

Round 2: Minus slips but recovers. Story on the outside. Shoots a single leg and gets the takedown. Story in half-guard now, attacking an arm triangle again. Minus turns away but gives his back! RNC is deep! Minus taps! 

Decision: Rick Story def Carlton Minus via RNC at 2:55 of Round 2. Story adds five points and now has a total of 8.

 

Joao Zeferino v Yuri Villefort

Round 1: Zeferino comes out and immediately shoots for a takedown on Villefort but is stuffed. The men trade with Zeferino getting the better of the exchange. Zeferino  is now landing the straight at ease as he draws blood from Villefort. The men exchange yet again in the center of the octagon each trading hooks.  Villefort  seems to be the aggressor but Zeferino lands from the outside. Villefort finishes the round with a spin kick to the mid section of Zeferino. Zeferino 10-9

Round 2:  Villefort comes out and shoots for a takedown but gets reversed with Zeferino landing on top.  The men scramble back to their feet and exchange yet again with Villefort landing the heavier shots. A cut opens on Zeferinos nose.  While this is a back and forth fight Villefort seems to be getting the better of Zeferino this round. Villefort presses Zeferino against the cage. Zeferino shakes Villefort off and lands a beautiful head kick followed by an uppercut. Villefort seems hurt but the round comes to an end. Villefort 10-9

Round 3: Zeferino comes out  landing a superman punch followed by a set of hooks. Zeferino backs Villefort up and secures a takedown. Zeferino takes Villefort's back and locks in the RNC. Villefort TAPS! 

Decision: Joao Zeferino def. Yuri Villefort via Submission (RNC) in 1:10 of the 3rd round. Zeferino adds 4 points to his total score of 10 points.

 

Abubakar Nurmagomedov v Jonatan Westin

Round 1: Westin takes the center. Westin lands a straight left. Abubakar tries to clinch but Westin escapes. Accidental groin strike from Westin lands. Pace picks up. Abubakar shoots a double and gets the takedown in the center of the cage. Westin trying very hard to scramble, Nurmagomedov won't let him. GnP from Nurmagomedov  but Westin wall walks to his feet. Nurmagomedov on him like glue, takes him down again. Westin gets up but the round ends. Nurmagomedov 10-9

Round 2: Hard leg kick from Westin, Nurmagomedov counters with a right, then promptly takes him down in the center again. Westin attacks an armbar to no avail, back to full guard. Westin being very active from his back but Nurmagomedov with excellent control, as you might expect. Westin scoots to the cage. Much slower pace now. Westin is cut over his right eye. Westin visibly frustrated as he ends the round on the bottom. Nurmagomedov 10-9

Round 3: Westin throws a kick to the body, Abubakar catches it, and we're back to square one. Full guard. More GnP from Nurmagomedov. Westin scoots back to the cage. Loud boos. Westin tries to post along the cage put Nurmagomedov pulls the hand away again and again. Westin begging to be stood up, Ref shakes his head. Armbar! No good, but Westin is back to his feet. Abubakar immediately shoots but gets stuffed. Round ends on the feet but Nurmagomedov was on top most of it. Nurmagomedov 10-9

Decision: Abubakar Nurmagomedov def Jonatan Westin via unanimous decision 30-27/30-27/30-27. Nurmagomedov is now on the board with 3 points.

 

Kayla Harrison v Jozette Cotton

Round 1:  Harrison takes the center of the octagon and begins to land immediately on Cotton. Harrison continues to land a series of straights and jabs as Cotton is still looking to establish range.  Harrison shoots for one of the cleanest double legs I have seen in a while and ends up in side control. Harrison lands a knee in side control as Cotton tries to scramble away. Harrison now has top mount and is landing at will. Harrison attempts an armbar and goes right back into GnP. Harrison pulls attempts a second armbar and nearly gets it as the round closes out. Harrison 10-9

Round 2: Cotton tries to come out swinging but Harrison avoids the big shots and trip Cotton. Harrison is in Cotton guard but landing heavy hammer fists to the body and face. Harrison continues to rain punches down from the top. Harrison is now standing with Cotton's feet on hips, continuously landing at will and battering Cotton. Harrison now jumps to side control and continues to land. Cotton attempts a sub from bottom but the round ends. Harrison 10-8

Round 3:  Harrison comes out as in the third round looking to be as fresh as the first. Harrison immediately gets the takedown . Harrison stands up and bounces huge punches off the dome of Cotton. The ref has seen enough and stops the fight!

Decision: Kayla Harrison def. Jozette Cotton in 1:54 of the 3rd Round via TKO (GnP). Harrison  adds 4 points to her score for a total of  10 points.

 

Magomed MagomedKerimov v Bojan Velickovic

Round 1: Velikovic takes the center. Magomedkerimov catches a kick and dumps Velikovic. Velikovic gets up but not before he's cut on the forehead. Velikovic lands an accidental groin strike. Velikovic shoots and gets a takedown but he's in a guillotine. It's tight! He escapes and Magomedkerimov has him against the cage. Velikovic turns him and lands a little. Magmedkerimov lands a groin strike now. Magomedkerimov grabs Velikovic and dumps him into full guard and ends the round on top. Magomedkerimov 10-9

Round 2: Velikovic shoots again but into a guillotine. He's free, now on top and in full guard against the cage. Magomedkerimov is able to get back to his feet. Velikovic shoots again under a strike and takes him down again into full guard, this time in the center of the cage. Both men trading hammer fists from the ground. Scramble, and we're back up. Magomedkerimov attempts a knee and falls, Velikovic follows him down into half-guard. Velikovic lets him up and the round ends. Velikovic 10-9

Round 3: Both men trade a little in the center. Each guy retaking the center. Both guys trying to time each other around the center. Clinch, but they break. Magomedkerimov lands a good punch after Velokovic shoots. Now Magomedkerimov shoots and has got him down against the cage, Velikovic gets up but gives his back. Magomedkerimov pulls him away from the cage and takes him down in the center of the cage. Magomedkerimov trying to pass. He's got the back again. Flattens him out. Full mount, back to the back. Magomedkerimov ends the round punching from the back. Magomedkerimov 10-9

Decision: Magomed Magomedkerimov def Bojan Velikovic by unanimous decision 29-28/29-28/29-28. Magomedkerimov adds three more points and now has a total of 9 points.

 

Ray Cooper III v Pavlo Kusch

Round 1: Cooper takes the center and throws a wild left hook. Kusch gets away. Only for a second! Cooper lands another hook and drops Kusch! GnP! It's over! This has to be a record for quickest KO in PFL history. Just, wow.

Decision: Ray Cooper III via KO at :18 of the first round. That's six points, and now Cooper is sitting pretty with 11 points.
