Battle of the Brits: Paul Daley v Michael Page
There can only be one:
On February 16th, Paul ‘Semtex'‘ Daley will go clash with heated rival Michael ‘Venom’ Page at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. The winner will move on to face Douglas Lima in the Welterweight Grand Prix semifinals.
If you are familiar with Daley and Page, you should be well aware that this one will start on the feet and end with one of two men taking a nap. On paper, MVP is undefeated, 13-0, finishing 11 of his 13 opponents by KO/TKO. He is also a world class kickboxing champion. So far, we have yet to watch MVP get outclassed on the feet. In respect to Daley, he has competed in nearly 60 bouts (40-16-2). He is a highly touted kick-boxer with a commendable record of 21-3.
Personally, I have MVP simply outclassing Paul Daley and putting him down. As awkward and unorthodox as MVP may be, he has shown himself to be the more technical striker of the two. Additionally, he knows how to taunt and bait his opponents in order to set up the big knockout. Paul Daley possess a tremendous amount of power and can be a phenomenal counter puncher. But, I have seen Daley let his emotions get the best of him and become reckless (Nick Diaz, Josh Koscheck, almost Lorenz Larkin). It is never a good idea to count out the power puncher completely, but I think the ‘Semtex’ will fall victim to ‘Venom’ and self combust.
Yet, I think it is worth noting Michael Page’s father, Curtis Page Sr. recently passed away (our condolences)… To this point, we ask: How will this effect Page’s performance ?
Nonetheless, this bout is expected to bring fireworks showcasing tons of athleticism. At the end of the day, who gets the W?
