Johnson v Dillashaw 'Super Fight' in peril ?
According to Duane Ludwig (who was featured on BJ Penn Radio), there is something holding up the Demetrious Johnson and TJ Dillashaw super fight. Originally, DJ had claimed he required surgery on his shoulder. Johnson underwent the procedure and should be fully recovered by now as he was to be sidelined for 6 weeks. Now, the assumption most sources are making is that the negotiation process is not going well ( 'The money is not right').
Regardless, Duane Ludwig refuses to be apart of the negotiation process or anything that deals with the business aspect. Ludwig said he focuses strictly on TJ's improvement as a mixed martial artist and that is it.
But, before the BMT head coach went off air, he stated that a rematch against Dominick Cruz is what he would like TJ to train for should the 'super fight' fall apart.
The last time TJ Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz squared off in the octagon, Cruz defeated Dillashaw via split-decision to recapture Bantamweight gold. Since their last meeting, Cruz went on to beat Urijah Faber but ultimately suffer defeat at the hands of Faber's prodigy Cody Garbrandt. In turn, TJ Dillashaw went on to defeat avenge his loss to Raphael Assuncao and to route John Lineker in a dominant performance. After a long season of TUF against Team Alpha Male, Dillashaw finally clashed with reigning champion Cody Garbrandt and knocked him out in the 2nd round to become the Bantamweight champion of the world for a 2nd time.
In the end, I simply ask, should DJ-TJ not happen, who grabs the W in a Dillashaw-Cruz rematch? Does Cruz deserve a rematch? If not Cruz who else?
Thoughts on the whole situation? Who grabs the W in the rematch ?
